Two of the greatest ship captains in the Galaxy were destined to meet on the biggest stage, the opposite ends of the ping pong table. Of course though, neither of them play singles. This is a doubles match to the end. With Kirk and his trusty sidekick Spock against Solo playing alongside his Wookie pal Chewie, this is bound to be a match for the millennium. Here’s our prediction:

| Captain Kirk & Spock | Han Solo & Chewie | |
| Strengths | Kirk has passed the Kobayashi Maru test (with a little persistence), knows what it takes to win Mentally the stronger team |
Solo has the superior reflexes and aim Chewie the ability to tell Han the play without others knowing what they’re saying |
| Weaknesses | Do not have the hand to hand combat experience of Solo & Chewie | Rules could be challenging for them to understand, not known for playing by the rules, or the odds |
| X-Factor | Kirk has a Valvano-esque motivational ability. Even if his team suffers early, Kirk has the ability to get them right back on track | Can talk his way out of anything. Might be able to smooth talk to the win |
MATCHUP TO WATCH: Watch to see if the mental toughness of the Kirk/Spock squad can hold off the verbal daggers sure to be thrown from Mr. Solo. The banter between the teams is definitely going to set the tone for the match.
PREDICTION: With Han serving first, we expect the play to develop with the trash talk. Watch out for the aggressive play from Han and the soft returns from Chewie, with some crafty spin, comboing, and control play from the veterans pongers from the USS Enterprise, because as we know, “Conquest is easy, control is not.” We’re predicting consistency from Kirk’s squad, with Solo’s aggressive style forcing him to live and die by the forehand smash.
